Kissed With Colour in Lacock

It was a day kissed with colour in the little village
of Lacock outside of Bath, England.

I have Cherry Pie @ Cherie's Place to thank for
this wonderful suggestion to visit Lacock.

We were greeted by the Lacock Village Fair upon arrival.
A nice little surprise to end our three day weekend to Bath.

It was a grand day out.
The streets were buzzing, children wore grins from ear to ear
and laughter could be heard from one side of the High Street to another.

Home now... organizing and filing,
deciding what will come next....

One more week left of school holidays.
Did I mention that I now have a grin from ear to ear??

How about you?
What did you get up to over the weekend?

More in Bath, England...

UMTC Packinglist

Tomorrow starts my ontgroening. Ontgroening is something that happens to you when you join a studentscorporation/club. All the freshmans go on a camp where they get a terrible treatment. Its all for the bonding. If a group of freshmans get the same treatment, they will automaticaly get closer to each other for comfort. And thats the purpose of the ontgroening, to get to now your year. You also have to show how bad you want to join the studentsclub. Luckily, my club, UMTC, is not that bad actually. This ontgroening is only 4 days, while other bigger ones are 11/12 days and a lot more horrible. I'm actually pretty excited, because I have no idea what to expect. Well, I'm sure it won't be that nice but hopefully I will meet some great new people.

For this ontgroening, I had to get a lot of stuff and I have no idea whatfor. I wanted to share those crazy items with you. Travelling will be very hard with it. Well, I have one "normal" bag, with the usual sleepingstuff and clothes, one "weird" bag with all the things I had to get and one sleeping-bag and one air mattress . And this all on ONE BIKE! Its going to be really heavy.. Well, here are the items. Enjoy the weirdness!

Ow, this means that I won't post for another 4 days. But I'll tell you all about the ontgroening afterwards! xoxo Sabine

Micro Sculptures By Dalton Ghetti

Micro Sculptures By Dalton Ghetti

FLB: Cocorosa

Its always amazing to know that even people from my little country can be famous in the bloggerworld. Of course, Amsterdam, our capital, is a really fashionable city and is growing on the fashionmap. Still, fashion and dutch people don't match together well, because of our mentality.

But this dutchie has more than 3000 followers, has amazing outfits and tutorials, has lovely designerpieces and lives in the city of NY. Wow.. is really the only thing I can say. I follow her blog for quite a while now and without any regret. Her outfits are very varied although you can see her love for wedges shimmer trough all her looks. The pictures are also very professional. I really wanted to let you guys know her, because she really deserves it! Her are some of my favorite looks of her. Please check her out! http://mypreciousconfessions.blogspot.com/

I guess you all know the lovely Miu Miu pieces with the birds, the sunflowers and the kitties? Well, her is a picture from a tutorial she made. Lovely isn't it?

PS: Funny fact! I didn't even know that she was dutch. When I contacted her in english for permission of featuring her on my blog I suddenly got an unexspected dutch response!

What a difference a comment makes!

Smiles all around...

Thinking happy thoughts and sending out a
big thank you to Susie @ The Mill House

for sending me her ideas of things to see and do
for our upcoming trip to Bath.

I put a little request at the end of my post over at Finding My Way
for suggestions and Susie responded with a full itinerary.
I am so excited!

Susie and I started our blogs around the same time
and somehow managed to find our way to each other.
She on her move from Australia to England
and me from New Zealand to England.

Susie was followed by Sarah @ Semi Expat in OZ
who moved from England to Australia.

They have both kept me 'in the know' ever since.

If you haven't met Susie and Sarah,
be sure to stop by,
and tell them I said hello!

This is one of the things I love about the blogging world.
Sharing ideas.

It makes me want to send out a big group hug to the blogging world!
Consider it done!

Thank you all for your kind words this week.
I am so excited and thankful for the many new
friends I have met recently too.

What a difference a comment makes!

Best wishes for a wonderful weekend
A long weekend for many!
Enjoy!

Jeanne :)

A Little Retail Therapy and a few questions...

I took my daughters for a little retail therapy today.
My eldest, Miss Christine, is back in town
and I had the two girls all to myself.
What better time for a little investigative work.
As we stood on the escalator, going up to the next floor,
I casually drop into the conversation...

I say: "So, do you know if Dad has bought my birthday present yet?"
Daughters reply: "Yes"

I try again: " Are there any stores we should not go into today?"
Daughters: Silence...pretend to look distracted.

I try a different tact: "Does that mean I should not pop into Brora today?
Daughters turn to mother and say in unison:
"Mom, you are so obvious, nice try. But it won't work".

Ok, I tried. I have to give myself credit for that :)

I love September, not only is it my birthday (11th) month,
it also signals the start of Autumn fashions.
My favourite time of year.

I am mad about capes at the moment.
I also love the idea of slinging a sweater
around my shoulders with a brooch.
Nice touch by Liv here.

Cold Weather Denial

Its raining cats and dogs around here but I still have this summer feeling. I just don't want it to end! Rain means autumn, nasty winds and cold hands. But also a new life as a student, golden leaves and time for the warmer clothes of my closet!

This outfit is a "in between" outfit. I'm still not ready to fully accept to wet weather, so I put on my flowery skirt (used it as a top, which looks quite good actually!) and my denim shirt from the ZARA. That is the summer part, because its actually a bit to cold for this weater. The autumn part are in the long light jeans and my brown warm boots. I have to say I missed them, they are so warm and comfortable!

I'm always a bit strange with clothes and the current season. I never listen to the weather but always wear what I want to wear. Well, ok, I won't wear a bikini in winter, but I have the strange habit of dressing up to cold for the season, with skirts and dresses that weren't ment to be for winter. Guess my heart will always live in the warmer seasons...

On my Bookshelf...and yours?

I was playing with my camera
the other day...as you do.
It was morning,
the house was quiet,
everyone was asleep,
 the coffee was brewing
and I had an idea.

I went to one room and took pictures of a few of my books.
Just random shots..I wasn't thinking much of it.
Just playing.

I then got to thinking....as you do.
I wondered how many other readers collect books
and if they are as nostalgic as I am.

Here is my bookshelf...
how about you?

and the lucky last...
My very first keeper.

Many of these books and I go back over 20 years,
some as recent as last month.

Books take you places, don't they?
Great memories and great dreams for the future.

If you are interested in doing the same,
I would love to see your bookshelf.
I am going to add a link at the bottom of this post.
Feel free to join me, anytime.

PS..for more books on my bookshelf,

Jade... Sold Out For Ever?

Everybody knows Chanel. The clothes are just amazing and I think a lot of fashionbloggers would do anything for the famous Chanel Chained Bag. But Chanel is not only famous for its clothing, but also for its fragrances and make-up. I know I usually don't post about beautyproducts, because that is a totally different branche, but I just wanted to share this amazing product with you. Also because I think a lot of people heard of it and love it. What I want to talk about is the amazing nail-polish Jade 407, the sensation of Fall 2009.

This nailpolish was so popular it was sold out in no time. Its of course perfect with the current Pastel trends and its a pretty unique color. A lot of brands tried to recreate this amazing nailpolish colour. But what if I tell you that there is one almost perfect the same for only 3 euros?

This nailpolish is from Catrice, a brand that produces cheap make-up, but with a pretty good quality. There latest Ultimate Nail Lacquer collection is very good and contains the color Sold Out For Ever 240 (maybe a small reference to the ungettable Chanel-polish Jade). Here is an example on my nails. You can see the colour looks almost the same and I really love it! I really love the current pastel trends :)! So if you want a cheap duplicate, buy this nail-polish from Catrice and all the other amazing ones. There are in total 32 beautiful colors (I myself already have Scream Peach, Bloody Mary to Go and Princess For A Day, Sold Out For Ever is from my sister).

I'll try to post another outfitlook tomorrow! Inspired of pastels of course, although the weather is going to be terrible. Summer is over, unfortunately... It will be fun to dress up again :). And I'll soon post a Fellow Lovely Blogger again :). xoxo Sabine

PS:
Sorry for the louzy nails.. Still not good at using nail-polish. My little sister although is a master.. She can do anything with nail-polish.. and it looks so good! Maybe I will post some creations of my sister, then you can compare her amazing work with my lousy one.
PPS: And I know this article is pretty out-dated. But I was painting my nails with it and loved it so much, that I just wanted to share it with you. I mean, there should be somebody out there who has not heard of this?!
