Stars and Stripes Fashion

In my last post, I showed you my sisters amazing nailpolish skills. And I told you that she was going to do my nails too! So here is a picture of them. She really did a great job and had a lot of patience to do them. I think she needed to paint them for 8 times... So I sat still for a few hours xD

I love the idea of a famous flag on your nails, but flags are not only used for nails. There is a lot of fashion out there that also was inspired by some flags. I wanted to show you some of my favorites from the American Flag, because I think that one is the most famous among the world, and also a flag that has a lot of controversy around it. Its used for statements, for portraying you own nationality but also just for fun. Enjoy!

Mr. H and Madame Blogger

A little surprise on Christmas morning
with this little message waiting for me.
Dear Mr. H was a very good reader this year.
Somewhere along the way he clued into my fondness
Lots of goodies to keep me delighted and
entertained for some time to come.
Hugs to Mr. H for being an enthusiastic supporter :)

Another little beauty waiting for me was a book I had added
to my wish list earlier in the year, Mary McDonald Interiors.
It pays to post about the things you love:)

I have been under the weather the past few days, but have to say this book
cheered me right up. Three or four cups of tea later and I was looking
at decorating in a whole new light. This is a book to inspire.
Mr. H may regret this purchase :)

I spent most of the afternoon, feet up, just looking...

the colours are heaven..so pretty and refreshing.

Lovely blue...

Fresh citrus colours everywhere you turn.
  Lemon yellows, lime green,
pomegranate red and orange poppies.

With a touch of the green in time for our trip to Ireland tomorrow.

With that I say adieu...this cold is lifting me up
and wishing me back to bed. If anyone has home
remedies for a persistent cough...please do tell.
I am in need :)

Off to Dublin ...
I think I am going
to need the luck of the Irish
to be well enough for this one :)

Merry Xmas part 2

And here are pictures from my second lovely christmas day! Well, of the food mainly. We cooked with the whole family and everything turned out delicious. I made the aspergesoup as a starter. For the maincourse, we ate french beans with bacon, a salad with pine-treepits, a rolled rost, little baked mashed potatoes, potatocroquets and cranberrysauce. And for desert, we had delicious Greek Yoghurt with honey and walnuts.

Oh, and here is a picture of the whole family! Well, I'm making the photo so not everyone, but you can see my mother, father, sister and my grandparents on here :) To bad the quality of the pictures is really bad.. Oh, and another picture of the beautiful nails of my sister. She really is a artist with nailpolish. She is going to do my nails today too! :D

That was it again for today :) I'm planning to do a Pick Your Style, but I don't know when I have time again. But I promise you, the post will be this week :D xx Sabine

Zeitgeist 2010: Year in Review

Merry Xmas part 1

First of all: A merry christmas to all of you! Celebrate this wonderful holiday with your family and enjoy the presents and food! I wanted to share a bit of my holiday with you, so here are some pictures of the food from today and our christmas tree! Tomorrow there will also be a post, with the food from that day :P For the ones who are wondering: we ate gourmet. That is that you cook your own meat and vegetables on a hot plate.

And.. an outfit post! Because that belongs also to christmas: Time to dress up wonderfully. I wanted to show you two things I bought at Thursday when my little sister came to Utrecht to shop with me. This blue warm poncho, that I bought at the H&M and my new long black boots, that I bought at the Dolcis. I really love my new poncho, because its so cosy, warm and winterish. I feel so comfortable in it! And the boots.. I'm in love.. Really, I needed black boots for a very long time because they match with a lot of outfits I have for the winter. I was so happy when I finnaly found them!

As already said, next post will be tomorrowevening :)And.. I wish you all a wonderful holiday!!! xoxo Sabine

Homemade Love and a Christmas Wish

A great meeting of the minds has taken place over the past few days.
It's been all girl talk. "What to make?, how to make?, what if?,
maybe not, wouldn't this be nice?" and so on and so on.

Our kitchen table has been taken over by cookbooks.
For days the following ladies have intrigued us
with their delicious suggestions. If you are still in search
of a recipe or two I highly recommend each and every one.

Miss Christine made her first Gingerbread House
and I was delighted to pass over the challenge.
The boys exclaimed it is the best one ever and I would have to agree.

Even our little Elf who travels around our house at night
and wakes up in the most peculiar places agrees :)

I hold such promise for anyone who can create a roof top with such precision.

It has been homemade love right down to the last little
biscuit tenderly wrapped with Christmas ribbon.

We are chopping and stirring and whizzing
and my thoughts keep drifting back to you.
My family and friends....
Are you cooking, shopping, running frantic
or do you have your feet up by the fire?

Are you traveling or staying at home?
Many questions and I am sure not enough
time to answer. But if you do,
I would love to know :)

I for one, look forward to sitting by our fire (above)
when the festivities have quieted to catch up with you.

I will sign off now wishing and hoping that
your holiday is filled with the things you love.

Warmest wishes for a joyous holiday!
