Summer Sundays and a Parade

Happy 4th of July!

What would a Summer Sunday be without a 4th of July parade?
Especially this Sunday.
Last Sunday I talked about my childhood town by the sea.
They happen to have the most wonderful parades each year.
The whole community partakes with grins from ear to ear.

I remember being in it myself at one time or another.
Even it it is just joining in and walking along you can't help
but to be swept in by the excitement of it all.

The beauty of this parade is that everything and anything goes.
You can't be bashful here because nearly everyone knows you.
If you have never been to a 4th of July parade,
I invite you to share in this one with me.

Once the parade is over...it just get's better.
You get to look forward to fireworks in the evening!

Lastly, summer to me was time spent at my grandparent's beach cottage.
They always welcomed us with open arms.
It was a never ending open house at the cottage all summer long.
The grandchildren, the great grandchildren, the neighbours
and more would stop in to say hello.

Everyone headed up to their porch on the 4th.
We would sit under the stars, with the moon hanging over the ocean
and wait for the heavens to shower us with a glorious display of lights.

My grandfather nearly made it to 100 this year. We miss him dearly.
I will think of him as we sit under the twinkling lights of
another fireworks celebration tomorrow evening. It won't be the same
without him but it will be another occasion to remember him.
He always did love a great party :)

Wherever you may be I send best wishes
for a wonderful 4th of July!
