HTC Thunderbolt of Verizon Wireless review
At a quick glance, without any background information, your eyes might tell you that the HTC Thunderbolt from Verizon Wireless is little more than a Verizon remake of Sprint's EVO 4G and AT&T's Inspire 4G. After all -- like its contemporaries -- the Thunderbolt features a spacious 4.3-inch WVGA display, 8 megapixel camera, and dual-LED flash. In reality, though, the Thunderbolt is something more

Verizon Wireless drops XOOM and Galaxy Tab activation fee
Verizon Wireless iPad 2 already does not come with any form of tablet activation fee, so it makes perfect sense for the XOOM and Verizon wireless Galaxy Tab to follow as well - which means the mobile provider has also gotten rid of the additional $35 one has to fork out whenever they sign up for a data plan on either the XOOM or Galaxy Tab. Needless to say, one can more or less assume that future

Verizon sells Galaxy Tab for $599.99
Well, we finally have a price on this thing! America's largest carrier Verizon Wireless has announced plans to sell Samsung's Galaxy Tab for... $599.99. The 3G, Android 2.2-based unit (which will be loaded with V CAST apps, of course) will hit retail on November 11th, and since it's being sold at full price, a data plan (which starts at $20 per month for 1GB) is completely optional. MS Running Beta For 'Updated Xbox 360 Disc Format
Microsoft is running a public preview program to test out "an updated Xbox 360 disc format".
"We are conducting an open call for US based participants* for a public preview to help us prepare for an updated Xbox 360 disc format," Major Nelson announced today.
The Xbox 360 currently reads games from standard DVD-format discs, which hold up to 8.5-8.7GB on dual-layer discs. This has proved restrictive to some developers, who have been forced to spread games out over multiple discs.
PS3's Blu-ray format holds up to 50GB on a dual-layer, which allowed games like Final Fantasy XIII to feature higher quality sound and cutscenes due to its ample space. Could MS be preparing a higher-density disc for the Xbox?
It offers no further details, with the Major saying: "This is an important update as we continually strive to improve our products and we could not do so without the help of our great Xbox community."
Windows Phone 7 Predicted To Beat Apple iPhone
Looking at the smartphone market today, it is hard to believe that Microsoft's still-brand-new smartphone platform will become the second largest within four years. But that's exactly the story IDC is selling.
This year, Android will own the market, with 39.5%. Second is Symbian at 20.9%. Third is iOS at 15.7%. Fourth is BlackBerry with 14.9%. Fifth is Windows Phone 7 and Windows Mobile with 5.5%. "Others" bring up the rear, with about 3.5%. ("Others" most likely consists of HP's webOS, Linux, et al.)
"Android is poised to take over as the leading smartphone operating system in 2011 after racing into the number 2 position in 2010," Ramon Llamas, senior research analyst with IDC's Mobile Devices Technology and Trends team, said in a statement. "For the vendors who made Android the cornerstone of their smartphone strategies, 2010 was the coming-out party. This year will see a coronation party as these same vendors broaden and deepen their portfolios to reach more customers, particularly first-time smartphone users."
Amazon Unveils Cloud Music Player
Amazon has unveiled an online music service that lets users upload songs and play them from a range of devices.
The internet retailer launched its Cloud Player in the US, ahead of rivals Apple and Google which are rumoured to be developing similar systems.
Users are given 5Gb of storage space, roughly equivalent to 1,200 tracks, but can opt to pay for additional capacity.
The Cloud Player is currently only available through web browsers and mobile devices running Google Android.
Commenting on the launch, Amazon's vice president of movies and music, Bill Carr said: "Our customers have told us they don't want to download music to their work computers or phones because they find it hard to move music around to different devices."
Although a number of smaller cloud music services already exist, such as mSpot and AudioBox, Amazon is the first of the big technology companies to venture into this area.
Oh Dear....
The last time Mr. H went to South Africa
he came home with this bronze statue of cheetahs.
A present to himself to celebrate his 50th birthday.
We had to have the mantle over the fireplace rebuilt.
It is big, it is heavy... but it has grown on me.
He skipped off to the airport yesterday in anticipation of his trip to South Africa.
This morning I woke to this text message.
" Can I buy one or two?"
Any words of wisdom dear friends?
More on that man of mine here.

The winds of change...
Dear Friends
That female intuition of mine is picking up signals...I can feel the winds of change blowing thru my life again. It is a slight breeze but there is no doubt that it is there. I have had this persistent thought running thru my mind lately and I have been trying to place it. For those of you who watch the old classic TV movies, I am thinking John Wayne in black and white, on a ship that is tossing and turning in the ocean. As the searing wind and heavy ocean sprays beat down on us, he looks to me and says...."Brace yourself Jeanne...we are in for a wild ride". I have no idea why John is visiting...but there it is, swaying back and forth in my mind. This is not the first time John has called upon me, which is probably why I have become an expert at marking the winds of change.
What is the solution for this crazy concoction of emotions? I usually start with a good cleaning out. Everything gets moved, shifted and pushed and then with writing pad and pen at the ready I create an inordinate amount of lists. A mindful spring cleaning. That is my antidote.
Thank heavens for all these blogs of mine...they are being put to good use. I have started with a redesign of a few. That Template Designer program and I are at one this week. I have no idea where the blogs will end up but it has been a mighty fine diversion these past few days. My life has been filled with repairmen...for a house that I do not own. I won't even go there but let's just say it has given me plenty of time to organise and create!

My eyes have been resting on these for inspiration.
What better way to face the winds of change then spring green :)
Now, if I could just get that shade of green onto a blog background...
Before I go, since you were so helpful

blog designs do your prefer?

Malaysia
So this summer I have the opportunity to be able to serve in Malaysia on a mission team, I will be there for three weeks volunteering my time and helping others in a hospital in need, while helping them to know God and how amazing and wonderful he is. I am asking for your help in this mission trip.
First, prayer is needed! Please pray for our efforts and time while in Malaysia!
Second, if you can donate anything that would be wonderful and extremely appreciated!

Sending Thoughts
Today was such a great day (: Started off with my friend Kirstin coming over and spending some wonderful time her. I am so grateful for the friendships that God has given me. Kirstin is such a great friend and her love is inspiring! I had the joy to just spend the time with her this morning talking together, while learning more about God, and praying together. I am just grateful for her friendship, I am grateful for her in my life (:
Then the day followed with going to this amazing place in Pittsburgh called construction junction. If you live in Pittsburgh or come to visit you have to check this place out. I love it! I feel like a little kid when I enter this warehouse, it is filled of wonderful gadgets and old vintage building materials. I love places like this that find such amazing and creative ways to reuse and in a way recycle rather than throwing away older materials. Brings me joy (:
I was able to go grocery shopping, ahhhh so happy about that!! Money has been tight every month, only leaving bills to be paid. I am so grateful for the roommates I have and their sharing, giving hearts. I'm so thankful that I even had the money to make rent and other bills (: But today I was able to go to whole foods and get some yummy food! While their I ran into my friend Chace and spent sometime talking about God (:
As I came back home, excited about what I was returning with I began to clean, sing songs and garden a bit, which was great!! Then my roommate Terra walked in, our schedules are quite different so I don't get to see her as often as I wish I could. But we spent most of the evening catching up on our lives as she made dinner and I made some dark choloate oatmeal cookies (:
Today was a good day!
Every week I will be updating with something from the book that we are reading together as a church called "Forgotten God" by Francis Chan. I definitely recommend you check this book out, it's amazing and I'm only a chapter in!
Well back to this paper. Good night all!
A Rockport Lovefest
Jeanne,
I'm feeling a "Rockport lovefest" across the miles! I'm delighted to hear of your very close connection to this favorite place and think it must be wonderful to have been a Cape Ann girl! So sweet to hear that your parents met on Long Beach. I remember sand castles and fun times there, and I still have those beautiful round rocks that line my little "Rockport" garden here at home. I do hope you will write a post about Rockport and all of its charm....it's such a special place. Please feel free to share or use any of my photos anytime--I'm just happy to know that you enjoyed seeing them!
It has finally warmed up around here. Friday is was in the 60's!! Lots of melting but still lots of snow left. I'm continuing to think about springtime ....and warm Rockport breezes.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Janet xo
You can imagine my delight at reading this email. Janet does not have a blog but she enjoys following along. I was touched...I still am. Sometimes we write a post and wonder if anyone picks up on the little nuances, the ones that could only be picked up by someone who has been there. On this occasion, Janet was right with me.
to be honest, it hasn't changed much in the past 30 years. To me, that is one of it's most endearing qualities.
As a young girl learning to swim, I took my first tumble to the bottom of the ocean floor and recall my father's strong arms scooping me up to safety. My grandparents cottage was our safe haven. The weather worn shingles and softly painted Nantucket grey steps firmly braced by seagull white railings saw me thru childhood to adulthood. I recall being helped up the steep steps in the hands of my grandparents as a child and not to long ago lending my arm to my grandfather as we made our final decent together.
I have brought my family back to Rockport many times over the years. To this day, we still stop in the penny candy store that I frequented as a child. Our little white paper bags in hand, gingerly selecting just the right pieces to savour as we carry on thru the busy seaside streets. I could go on but I will stop and say from one 'Rockport gal' to another, thank you Janet for sending your note, your photos and giving me an opportunity to reflect on a very special time in my life.
That is seated by the sea;
Often in thought go up and down
The pleasant streets of that dear old town,
And my youth comes back to me.
Rockport is the quintessential New England town
and frequently used in movies.
You can see it in The Proposal here
and The Love Letter here

Too Hot in Qatar? Perhaps these remote controlled clouds may cool things down
Okayy ... So the FIFA WC 2022 is scheduled to be hosted in Qatar, a small nation in the Middle East , where temperatures above 40 degress are not uncommon. So does that mean that you would have to shell hundreds of dollars for the VIP lounge?
Apparently not, for the nation has come up with an innovative plan of keeping things cool so that your cola stays just the way you like it...by constructing a fleet of solar powered artificial clouds, that hover over the stadiums , keeping temperatures on the field bearable.
This idea was proposed by a certain Dr. Saud Abdul Ghani, the head of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Qatar University.
The cost ? Each cloud costs approximately half a million dollars and will be operated by remote control. Plans to reduce the cost by offering advertising spots are under consideration.
A simple overhead shade would cost much less, but this one looks way cooler.
Automate Poke When Your Friend Poke You:
Poking back our friends who poke’s us can be time-consuming. Thankfully, you can now automate this process using a user script. Installing this is a piece of cake. Simply follow the steps below.
Using your Mozilla Firefox browser, click this link to install the Greasemonkey add-on. If you already have this application, no need for you to install it twice. Once you’ve installed this application, go to this link and click install. You’ll notice a new window will pop up. Just click the Install button, wait for the installation to complete and then you’re done.
Hide Status Updates From Certain People
Using Facebook’s general privacy settings (find these by hitting “account” on the top right of a Facebook page) you can select whether everyone, just friends or friends of friends can see your status updates. However, there is a way to narrow those options down even further.
You can select specific friend lists to see your status (relevant for work, special interest groups, etc.) or even individual people by name, which is useful for anyone organizing a surprise party.
To take advantage of these options, click the padlock icon just below your “what’s on your mind” box on your wall and a drop down menu should appear. Selecting “customize” will bring up more options such as “make this visible to” and “hide from” with the option to make your selection a default.
Pre-Schedule Status Updates
While SocialOomph, Sendible and HootSuite offer the same kind of service, the simplest way to schedule Facebook status updates is by using the easy, free later bro service.
Just sign in with Facebook Connect, select your time zone, type in what it is you’d like to say, set the calendar and clock to when you’d like to say it, and presto!Play a Trick On Your Friends in Your Status Update
We have a funny one to end on — a way to play an amusing trick on your Facebook buddies.
This clever link “http://facebook.com/profile.php?=73322363″ looks like it could be a URL for anyone’s Facebook profile, actually takes anyone logged into Facebook to their own profile page.
If you try it out, be sure to remove the link preview that Facebook auto-ads. Have fun, and don’t be too mean…
Have Fun With Facebook’s Humorous Language Options
While you can always change your setting into more sensible alternative languages, the site offers a couple of fun linguistic Easter eggs.
You can chose to have Facebook display upside down English, or, for anyone feeling a little salty, in “pirate.” Pirate essentially turns your status into your “plank,” your attachments into “loot” and instead of “share” it offers the option to “blabber t’ yer mates.”
Sadly, anything you type in the status bar won’t be upside down, or pirate-y. But with the use of some external sites you can achieve the same effect.
TypeUpsideDown.com and UpsideDownText.com are just two examples of sites that can flip your text, while the Talk Like a Pirate Day site can help you with your pirate translations.
Apple Releases iOS 4.3.1 With Minor Fixes
Apple on Friday released iOS 4.3.1, a minor security and maintenance update for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, addressing issues related to connecting to some cellular networks, among other issues.
The udpate is available for the GSM iPhone 4, but no update has been made for the CDMA iPhone 4. That device is still on iOS version 4.2.6, released in January.
The iOS 4.3.1 update is also available for the iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, iPad and the third- and fourth-generation iPod touch. According to Apple, the update includes:
- Fixes an occasional graphics glitch on iPod touch (4th generation)
- Resolves bugs related to activating and connecting to some cellular networks
- Fixes image flicker when using Apple Digital AV Adapter with some TVs
- Resolves an issue authenticating with some enterprise web services
This week, it was rumored that Apple would issue iOS 4.3.1 within two weeks, making Friday's release somewhat unexpected. The accompanying notes make no mention of battery issues reported by some users of iOS 4.3, nor does it say whether a security hole exposed at a recent hacker conference has been patched.
Busy Busy Busy...
Hi you guys!
I know, I should be kinda ashamed of myself. No post in more then 2 weeks? I'm sorry! I'm extremely busy with school so I really did not have the time to think about blogposts. I actually don't even have time to post this one xD And worse, I can't promise you better times, because I have a lot of deadlines next week and the week after that I have exams.. After those exams, I really want to pick up on my blog again and do some cool stuff. I already have some things in mind, so I guess.. just wait for it! :D
But to make up for my absence, here is a little outfitpost I shot between my busy schedule. I'm wearing my Vero-moda cardigan, my Pull Out Bear jeans, my Dolcis Boots and my beige H&M Top. Its simple, but I really like it :) I personally really love the sweater, because of its unique colours. I don't know why, but it really reminds me of a Van Gogh painting..
I'll try to do a Love the Look post soon. I also plan to do another outfitpost, cause I have a new lovely cardigan I'm dieing to show to you guys! xxx Sabine
We are a thousand strong!

Handmade by Sweet Beate
My intuition has always been pretty good.
Today, I would say it was spot on.
I have long admired the creations by my blogging
friend Beate @ Sunday in Bed and decided it was time to act
when I glanced upon a gorgeous handmade blanket
that she knitted herself. The package arrived last night
and I am so excited I am finding it hard to contain myself :)
To start....
Sweet Beate hand decorated this lovely package for me.
Her creative energy knows no bounds...
It reads...
" The creative is the place
where no one else has ever been.
You have to leave the
city of your comfort
and go into the wilderness of your intuition.
What you'll discover will be wonderful
What you'll discover is yourself"
Alan Alda
To which she added a few Springtime
bookmarks from sunny Germany :)
and inside...I discovered this beautifully illustrated card
and a "springtime heart" notebook for
all my springtime thoughts...
and the piece de resistance....the object of my sincerest affections...
This beautiful handmade blanket of cotton and linen wool.
I feel like a girl in love.
I swept it out of the package, wrapped myself in it
and have had it by my side ever since.
See that little square tied to the card above?
It's gorgeous and I can't seem to let go.
Last night, I placed the blanket over my wintertime
doona and slept like a baby ;)
and... and... and....
for our dog Tika
She is in doggie biscuit heaven!
Some of you may remember Beate from an earlier post
when I introduced her to fellow bloggers, here.
There she is on the right modeling one of her creations
at her shop Garnwerkstatt @ Da Wanda.
You can have a look at her beautiful work in English here.
With that, I take pause with another of Beate's creations.
and send my sincerest thanks to
Sweet Beate!
images ~me and Beate....
Wishing you all a lovely weekend...
Jeanne xx
