Beautiful Portraits
I came across this photo in Country Life (UK) magazine a few months ago and have it amongst some of my favourites. It is entitled 'Portrait of a Young Woman' and was painted by Florentine Domenico Ghirlandaio (1449-94) who is best known for his fresco paintings in Florentine churches. Michelangelo was a student of his and was taught the technique of painting and draughtsmanship by Domenico. The other portrait is another example of his exquisite workmanship. Ghirlandaio's work can also be found in the Sistine Chapel. I would love to see these in person. Hope you enjoy them too!
